This web site is dedicated to disseminate information on Important Bird Areas (IBA) of Sri Lanka. IBA programme in Sri Lanka is implemented by the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka (FOGSL) which is the National affiliate of the BirdLife International.

Information on identified Important Bird Areas in Sri Lanka appears in this web site. FOGSL appreciate your comments on the sites and the details given in web pages of these sites. If there is any information missing in the respective IBA sites, you also can contribute to develop this web site. If there is any area that qualifies under IBA criteria that is not included in this list, you can nominate that area as an Important Bird Area. After conducting surveys in nominated areas, those will be included in the IBA network.

This web site provides information on all bird species recorded in Sri Lanka. Hence this will be the first web archive or resource pool for people who seek information on birds.

Recent publications on IBAs and also birds of Sri Lanka, done by FOGSL researchers also posted in the documents section. Hence, this will be an excellent source for researchers and students to access recent ornithological publications of Sri Lanka. If you can think of any other information that should be listed in this section please submit that information (Soft copies) to FOGSL so that it can be posted in the web site.
